Oscars de la ropa

Watching the Oscars last night, the only thing of importance is this: the fashion turn-out.
The Grammy's and Golden Globes have passed and there were many memorable fashion choices, such as Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture by Raf Simons and Rihanna in Alaia, but now the Oscars are finally here and no one knows how to work the red carpet quite like the actors and actresses of Hollywood.

Firstly, Jennifer Lawrence cannot be ignored. Congratulations to her win on best actress for Silver Linings Playbook first of all, and also congratulations on choosing a breathtaking dress to wear. Her lacy detailing on the dress really gives her that wedding-bride look, but it's not too over the top. In all honesty, she reminds me a bit of Cinderella here, and who wouldn't want to dress like a princess?

Sandra Bullock also looked amazing in her dark gown for the evening. She kept it simple with a slim look, with a tiny train that really tops off her look.

George Clooney and his girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, both dressed to impress for the occasion. Keibler kept it very chic with her embellished gown. With her simple but flirty hairdo, she really made this look work. Clooney, obviously taking advice from Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake's new hit single "Suit and Tie," looked like a proper gentleman.

Of all the amazing outfits last night, the best one has got to be Olivia Munn in Marchesa. Her gold embroidered bodice is absolutely stunning, and the bottom half of her fire-y red dress made her stand out from the crowd. She looks absolutely flawless here, with some vintage gold earrings to top off her look.

Overall the Oscars were a success--at least for the fashion world. The dresses get better every year and the actors and actresses really start to step their game up when it comes to the Oscars. Olivia Munn is clearly the winner of the best dresses from last night. Which was your personal favorite?

Valentine's Day Dreamin'

So Valentine's Day is around the corner (literally, that was fast!), and whether or not you're single and lovin' it, single and hating it, you have a boyfriend of three years, or you've just met someone and are seeing where things go, I have an outfit for you.

Valentine's Day can cause a lot of different emotions. It's a love-hate relationship. Where people either strictly LOVE it, or HATE it, and hmm it seems to have to do with your current status.. go figure. But have no fear, I was always a firm believer that a great outfit can turn your mood completely around. So here are a few little looks I've put together, for everyone.

Here's to the couples! If you have a day date, this is what I would recommend.
These are both simple sundresses that pretty much will give you that damsel-in-dress-sweep-me-off-my-feet look. The white dress on the right is actually called the "Sure Thing Dress" and I feel like that pretty much says it all. It gives you a nice innocent look, but is still short enough to make it a bit flirtatious. Get it, girl!

If you have a date at night, use this dress to drive your man cuh-raaazy.
For a late night Valentine's date, you want to wear something that's tight-fitting, but still has some elegance to it--after all, you're going to a nice dinner! This dress has just the right amount of sexiness, and with a cute clutch and some black pumps you can't go wrong.

Guys.. yes I'm addressing the guys, even though I'm pretty positive no guys check this blog. Six words: Keep it simple, wear a suit.
If not a suit, at least wear a nice button down. We're getting dressed up for you, you better look good for us!

Now the singles. Okay, there's a few possibilities here. If you're the type of gal who's going to round up your single friends and coworkers and go out, wear this:
I know it seems a little subtle, but you don't want to wear something that screams "I'M SINGLE." I mean you're out drinking on Valentine's Day, that kind of explains itself. You want something to  make guys think, "Hey she's cute, why is she single on Valentine's Day?" Keep that mystery going.

Now if you're having a Galentine's Day (if you watch Parks & Recreation, you'll get that reference), you get the best outfit of all: comfy pajamas.
Pajamas are one of my favorite things to spoil myself with. So get all your girlfriends together and watch movies, bake cookies, boybash, and enjoy your single selves without all the drama of going out and getting ready.

And of course I didn't forget, lingerie choices for all the girlfriends out there.
I know everyone's crazy about lingerie for this holiday, but personally I think a cute matching bra & underwear set can go a long way. Which do you prefer to wear--lingerie or a matching pair?

If you still need some inspirations check out Nastygal and Victoria Secret for their Valentine's Day inspired looks. I hope you all have a great Valentine's Day, and most importantly, enjoy yourself! It's a day about love, in all directions, so show your loved ones a little somethin' somethin'.

Love,

Sara Faye. xo
