A little creative inspiration to fuel the soul

Just wanted to share with you guys my new inspiration board!
It's Pinterest come to life. Who needs digital?

Also, my instagram wall. I call it the bringing-instagram-back-to-life strip.

Just some DIY ideas for anyone redecorating their room. The only reason I'm posting this on a fashion blog is because your room is all about your style. Fashion says, "I'm like them," and style says "only me." Everything you dress as says a lot about you, and the same goes for what you surround yourself with. The instagram strip is just for kicks, but I plan to use the board all of the time and revamp it at least once a month with updated photos.

And I know the posts have not been happening, but real photo entries are coming very, very soon! I'm too excited, I don't want to post much until that time comes. High quality pictures and fabulous outfits, I promise.

Sara Faye.

Autumn aesthetics

It's fall in southern California (so it still feels like summer), meaning that we should be thinking about the upcoming wardrobe change we know is inevitable. Pretty much when October 1st hits, my best friend and I are already conferencing about what our "winter style" should be.

Autumn: every fashionista's favorite part of the year.
It's easier to dress cute in the fall because there are way more accessories to take into account: hats, scarves, gloves, leg warmers, socks, etc.
But, on the flipside of that, it's getting colder (even in California) and practical, warm staple winter clothes are needed.
Dressing cute and practical is never really an easy combination in the fashion world.

So to give you a few ideas, here is my fall-going-into-winter style.
Cute dresses, warm cardigans, beanies, and thrifty boots.
(As it gets colder, you can fill in the missing blanks I'm going to need: tights, leggings, coats, and jackets.)

I honestly cannot tell you why my obsession with dresses has started this fall. But for whatever reason, here it is. My girliest side coming out this autumn.

Step 1: Find some dresses. Something cute and flowy, nothing too flashy.

Step 2: Cover it up with a neutral colored cardigan. Whites, blacks, dark grays, or beige and off-white colors will probably work best.

Step 3: A beanie to top it off. Anything fun. It's a nice accent to your outfit, so the color can be something vibrant or neutral depending on the look you're trying out.

Step 4: Pair it with some boots. I like the small lace-up booties for this season, but choose whatever works with your style better.

With any luck, your style will be as pristine as these ladies:

Topshop dreamin'

Since we are now in the last few weeks of April, we are officially transitioning from spring into summer. I don't know about you guys, but the weather is getting sunny and hot, and I am LOVING it.

Besides the fact that I will need to get a new bathing suit soon (I only have 10 pairs, I obviously need another one..), I'm on my shopping craze again. Coachella is over, spring cleaning has been done, and after my sister's birthday passes this week (it's tomorrow-Happy birthday sis!) I can officially start shopping for myself! I've set this great plan where, as much as as I spend on shopping, I put that same amount of money away to save. Great plan, right? I call it my save-myself-from-going-completely-broke-this-summer plan.

So as I browse the latest Topshop sales, I found some cute clothes all under 40 euros. Convert those euros to US dollars and plus shipping, that's clothes all under about $55. I have no idea why, but all I'm into this month is clothes that are comfy. I've got enough high-waisted shorts to last me all summer, where are the boyfriend tee's and thin oversized sweaters?!

Boyfriend Tee $15 / Oversized khaki sweater $20

Short sleeve denim vest $40 / Paisley flower pants $24

Red two-piece bikini $30 / Cropped sweater $35
Dweeb cardigan sleeve sweater $40 / Army jacket $40

Mila Kunis covers Marie Claire UK

Three words to describe the gorgeous and talented Mila Kunis? A total babe.

Not only has she gained recognition as a talented actress due to her many on-screen performances in movies such as Black Swan and Friends with Benefits, but also from her hottie A-list status. After her Black Swan performance with a role as a bad girl vixen, Kunis has since distanced herself from being seen as a bratty teen in That 70's Show. Her role in movies has transformed her into a hollywood knockout. For April 2013, she has stolen the cover of UK's Marie Claire.

In her newest film, "Oz the Great and Powerful," Kunis plays Theodora, the Wicked Witch of the West. She plays a beautiful and naive witch who has the Land of Oz's best interests at heart in the beginning, but then is tricked into becoming the wicked witch of the West. Watch her in theaters starring alongside James Franco, Rachel Weisz, and Michelle Williams.

Mad Hatter

The weather is getting a bit sunnier, the days are getting longer, and everything is getting hot-hot-hotter!  So face it--there are some things that just cannot be done in the heat. For instance, going anywhere in jeans when the sun is out is simply unthinkable. Double layering is also out of the question. Most importantly (and unfortunately), it is impossible trying to style and maintain hair during the crazy heat waves of California.

So here is a solution: don't even attempt to style your hair. Hats and beanies are perfect alternatives--they require minimal effort and still look chic and stylish. For a laid-back look, shop for snap backs from small clothing companies. If you live in Long Beach, Calif. Port is a small little shop with its own brand of clothing. Proper is also a clothing store that provides hats from other popular, upcoming clothing companies such as the Hundreds, Crooks & Castles, and Stussy. Also, nastygal.com has some girly snapback hats available for purchase.

If baseball caps aren't really your style, beanies are always an alternative. Try some trendy, slouchy beanies for a casual look. Pair those beanies with a loose top and some high-waisted shorts and you're all set.

There are so many predictable trends for spring, such as floral prints, short shorts, and flower accessories. Why not mix it up a bit with cute hat? In the spring, most fashion followers go with the trends that are played out year after year, so be original and add your own flare with your own choice of accessories. Spring is meant for change--mix it up!

Girl Crush: Lana Del Rey

"It-Girl" Lana Del Rey has been catching the attention of several fashion followers lately. Her unique 50's style with her big hair and classy dresses give her a unique look. She even was covered by Vogue for the month of March. Shown below are the UK and Australian versions of the Vogue cover.

The reason that Lana is so captivating to many is due to the eccentric look that she has. She has luscious, big lips and porcelain skin giving her a sulty, innocent look; yet her lyrics are honest and a little vile at times, which gives her an unexpected edge. Her hair is one thing that makes her stand out--nobody has sported that look since the fifties! She also uses accessories that give us a trip back down memory lane, such as heart-shaped glasses.

Lana's claim to fame started with her hit "Video Games" which went viral over the internet. Since then, she has recorded EP's and albums that have also become famous. Her most popular album, "Born to Die" has a few of her hit singles such as "Blue Jeans," "National Anthem," and "Summertime Sadness."  Her music is what started her internet fame, but her style is what keeps her in the loop. She styles herself and keeps herself looking original with her fresh retro look.

Oscars de la ropa

Watching the Oscars last night, the only thing of importance is this: the fashion turn-out.
The Grammy's and Golden Globes have passed and there were many memorable fashion choices, such as Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture by Raf Simons and Rihanna in Alaia, but now the Oscars are finally here and no one knows how to work the red carpet quite like the actors and actresses of Hollywood.

Firstly, Jennifer Lawrence cannot be ignored. Congratulations to her win on best actress for Silver Linings Playbook first of all, and also congratulations on choosing a breathtaking dress to wear. Her lacy detailing on the dress really gives her that wedding-bride look, but it's not too over the top. In all honesty, she reminds me a bit of Cinderella here, and who wouldn't want to dress like a princess?

Sandra Bullock also looked amazing in her dark gown for the evening. She kept it simple with a slim look, with a tiny train that really tops off her look.

George Clooney and his girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, both dressed to impress for the occasion. Keibler kept it very chic with her embellished gown. With her simple but flirty hairdo, she really made this look work. Clooney, obviously taking advice from Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake's new hit single "Suit and Tie," looked like a proper gentleman.

Of all the amazing outfits last night, the best one has got to be Olivia Munn in Marchesa. Her gold embroidered bodice is absolutely stunning, and the bottom half of her fire-y red dress made her stand out from the crowd. She looks absolutely flawless here, with some vintage gold earrings to top off her look.

Overall the Oscars were a success--at least for the fashion world. The dresses get better every year and the actors and actresses really start to step their game up when it comes to the Oscars. Olivia Munn is clearly the winner of the best dresses from last night. Which was your personal favorite?
